Here are a couple of magazines that have a few things in common. They’re both beautifully designed, they’re both perfect bound and printed on super nice uncoated stock, and they both made themselves at home on my coffee table this week.

It’s hard to find good critical design writing these days. But there is one magazine that bucks the trend and it comes from little old New Zealand. It’s called The National Grid and sadly most of the back catalog sold out a long time ago, but you can get No5 and No6 from Typotheque in Europe, or you can get the latest issue on TNG’s website.

Damaged Goods is filled with loads of surfing goodness from New Zealand. Get it from Thanks online. Well worth your $$s.
